I know I won't convert anyone anti-Stern to like Howard, but |
|
I hope at least that anti-HS DU'ers can appreciate the level of venom he is aiming at the Repugs on a daily basis. He clearly gets the urgency of removing the cabal, and since the announcement of the Sirius deal, he's blazing like a man with little-left-to-lose-for-much-longer.
He was delighting in the DildO'Reilly case's lurid details today. It was priceless. *'s "whoo" from the 3rd debate is a frequently used sound fx now, always to punctuate the chimp's stupidity.
So hate him, but know he's doing his part.

3. I have always respected Howard Stern's politics |
|
I just can't listen to his rabid sexism. Sorry, but it hurts my ears. I do applaud him for the way he's combatting right wing spin to his audience.

5. His political affiliations always struck me as odd until recently. |
|
I'd say that of all the celebrities in this entire nation, none had more at risk concerning censorship and the First Amendment than Howard Stern. And the Republican party, let's be honest, kind of has a Censorship Fetish.

7. I never really liked his brand of humor |
|
Erm, but I haven't heard much, only some old shows on E!...seems kind of sexist. However, I started to form a different view back in February when the RW was using the Janet Jackson thing as an excuse to get him shut down for his political views. Since then I've picked up a few of his anti-Bush things and I agree with him. Although I don't like his humor I have to give props to someone encouraging political thought. Further I take the attacks on him as an attack on free speech.

12. The shows on E feature my least favorite content |
|
Those are half hour excerpts (out of about a three hour show) that feature the porn stars and whatever else that he has on and I am not into that particular portion of the show.
The whole three hours every morning doesn't just contain that type of subject matter so it's kind of misleading (You'd have to listen to see what I mean)
They read the news near the end of the show and I always enjoy that portion the most (because there is ALWAYS mention of Bush et al lol)

I'll give him a listen, I have to admit I've never heard his show. I'll give it a listen. Anything to help vent the stress of living in Red Indiana.
Thanks

14. What, 6-10 or something like that in the morning. |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 11:36 AM by tjdee
I usually used to listen around the beginning (if I was up!) and as the other poster said, toward the end when the news is on (which is...after 9, closer to 9:30 I think).
Some of his bits are ridiculous, but they usually end up, in more conservative ways, on more conservative venues--for example, the Tonight Show hired Stuttering John, who spent many years with Howard Stern.

17. The radio show starts I THINK at like 6:30 or 7 AM? |
|
I may be wrong about this... because I always tune in at about 8:15 and I believe they read the news at around 9:15 to around 10 AM?

18. 6 - 10:30 or 11. It's actually a 5 hour show alot of days |
|
My time is Eastern standard. I think they carry it live in the central time zone as well, so that would be 5 - 9:30 or 10. And on the West Coast they carry it live from 3 in the morning till 6, and then it starts over with a 3 hour delay for the whole show.

8. My conversion is complete |
|
I used to hate Howard and thought he was a pig and now I have great respect for his courage in speaking out.
I am not gung ho on some of the guests he has on and all the topics (ah-hum) he covers... but overall the show is funny and his battering of bush has been the most relentless and brutal that I have heard anywhere (other than in my own head!)
He is DEFINITELY trying to do his part!

|
Poo. :(
I don't like everything he does, but I think he can be very funny and very intelligent. I'd go out with him. But, he's got a thing for those plasticy stripper types--to make up for the years in high school when he couldn't get a date, methinks.

Sort of. He's not afraid to say what he's thinking, instead of what he thinks people want to hear. Sure, he's obscene and lewd and rather perverted, but still...

11. I don't LIKE him but I used to enjoy him |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 11:14 AM by Ratty
At least he's an equal-opportunity offender and I tend to give that a lot of slack. The one thing I absolutely DESPISED about his TV show was the ambush interviews where his goon would approach a celebrity under the guise of a legitimate interviewer then ask them offensive questions simply to elicit shock. Ha ha, Jessica Tandy just got asked how often her husband gives it to her up the butt. Ha ha, look at her old lady's shocked face! Or if he can't get close to his victim he'll call out something offensive loud enough for them to hear, like if their on the carpet at the Oscars or at a charity event (like calling out a loud, tasteless question about a recently deceased spouse). Completely unfair, tacky, and worst of all, pointlessly cruel. I stopped watching Stern because of that.

Stern doesn't do that anymore, I don't think, plus as I said, Jay Leno hired Stuttering John.

But in that case they definitely deserve whatever they get. They agreed to come on his show after all.
