apartment without pants. It was nighttime, the middle of winter, in an apartment complex in Juneau, Alaska. Luckily, my balcony sliding door was unlocked, and I just had to figure out how to get up to it. I was out in the cold in my underwear for at least 25 minutes, though I don't think anyone saw me.

2. Hands down...
rats.

Although roaches freak me out quite a bit. When you said insects, my first thought was flies, fleas and bees... they annoy me, but don't make me lose my mind. Roaches make me lose my mind.

But rats would make me move out within a month or less.

9. Bats
About once a year, one gets down the chimney, and then we all run around flapping things at it until we get it to fly out the door.

I'm not too fond of flour moths either, in any of their various gross stages of development, but I don't get as manic over them.

I'd probably freak out worse if I ever had rats here.

I once found a nest of mice on our back porch in a box of Halloween stuff, and I totally freaked. I never imagined I could have such a violent reaction. I sicked the cats on the mother, who captured her with glee; then I flushed the pinkies down the toilet.

I was disgusted by my own brutality. But I can't say I wouldn't do it again...unless I had a snake to feed the boogers to.
