5. whatever the computer plays
Sitting in my office, I just turn the iTunes to random and let it run through the approximatly 2000 songs, from old jazz, 60's rock, Phish, country and other stuff, drives my 20 something assistant nuts.

9. Like tsakshaug I just turn on
iTunes, I usually begin with a Nelly song to get my blood pumping, and keep it on shuffle...

Some artists in my iTunes folder include:
Phish
Grateful Dead
Bob Dylan
NOFX
Ani Defranco
XTC
Eminem
Dead Prez
Bruce Springsteen
George Harrison
Some assorted artists who released anti Bush mp3s at the beginning of the year.

Whatever it is playing it won't be "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" that's for sure.

I LOVE MY MAC :loveya:

8. Oooh, I like Can...
"Tago Mago" is good, but I prefer "Ege Bamyasi" and "Monster Movie" (don't be dissin' Malcolm!)

I've been listening to a lot of Gainsbourg. But that's not just for today, I simply listen to a lot of Gainsbourg as a general rule.

12. "Take Him, Earth, for Cherishing," composed by Herbert Howells
It was commissioned for JFK's memorial, and I bought it last year after Wellstone was killed. It seemed the most appropriate thing to play this morning.

13. What's a CD?
Seriously, I sold my last CD player two years ago. I have a huge MP3 collection (nearly 16,000 songs...the RIAA would love me), but I actually spend most of my time listening to legit web streams. I'm listening to SomaFM as I type this!

14. Audra MacDonald singing "How Glory Goes"
One of the loveliest and most haunting songs about death and heaven I've ever heard. Written by Adam Guettell, Richard Rodgers' grandson.

15. Today....
Lucinda Williams, "World Without Tears".
John Lennon, "Legend"
Bob Dylan, "Greatest Hits"

It's going to be loud for all my flag-waving, redneck neighbors to enjoy.

16. It's a French festival!
Two discs of relative rarities by Gabriel Faure with the Orchestre de Capitole de Toulouse under conductor Michel Plasson. Includes Pelleas & Melisande, Masques et Bergamasques, Elegie...and Caligula, among others.

Beau, cultivé substance, je dois dire.

Later, I'll probably blast some Bruckner or Wagner.
