All "meets expectations", which is a relief considering the circumstances under which we teach. Now to exceed expectations on a few domains for next time. :)

10. I seem to have gotten myself

in hot water by telling folks that I taught in private schools for five years - news seems to have travelled and expectations were higher than I thought they would be. Public school (in which this is my first year) is a completely different beast in all sorts of ways. I'm getting my feet under me now, though. :) Thanks!

9. the good, the bad, the ugly

I've tripped up my share of times, but I'm getting to know the kids better and they me. That's been a challenge, since the school population is 100% African American and deeply poor for the most part - I was a real object of curiosity for a long while. :)

On the whole, it's a real trip.

8. Hats off to you, my man

I completely respect teachers and the sacrifices that they make in their own lives (including learning to live off of next to nothing) in order to teach our children. I honestly think that your job is one of the most important jobs anyone can have. Without teachers, no one would be where they are today.
