Why didn't you guys tell me to save my money?
I bought The DAy AFter Tomorrow last night. What a shitty movie. Mediocre effects. Bad acting. It just sucked all the way around.

Twenty dollars down the drain. :grr:

1. I thought we did. My mistake.
Actually, I kind of enjoyed it, but not $20.00s worth.

5. I would have been pissed if I had paid a $4 rental fee.
Wonder if I can take it back and exchange it.

34. Here's what you do...
Take it back, claiming that it's defective, they'll let you exchange it for an new copy, unopened, that you can then later return or exchange for something else...

2. Ahh..it's not that bad
It's one of those "good bad movies", ya know? Like Armageddon. They both suck cinematic ass, but they're a good way to be amused for a few hours.

3. Why didn't you just rent it?
Or read the reviews?

Or look at the credits and realize that it was made by the same people that made "Independence Day" and "Stargate"?

7. It was an impulse buy.
We don't have any movie rentals here, except for Blockbuster, and I do not do business with Blockbuster.

15. I understand.
My best friend and I used to go into Blockbuster and ask if "The Last Temptation of Christ" was in stock, just to piss them off.

21. LOL!
The Blockbuster here has a bad habit of putting movies back on the shelves without checking them in first. Therefore, due to their error, they charged my credit card for the price of three movies that I had returned--and I pointed them out to them on the shelf. Not only did they charge my credit card, but they double charged it, and it took an act of congress to get it off.

And they were assholes about the whole thing. I didn't receive a single "We're sorry."

25. Is there a problem with Blockbuster? Other than it being the WalMart of
video stores that drove thousands of independents out of business, that is.

35. That's not enough?
OK -- they censor movies. As in re-edit them from their theatrical versions. No warning or disclaimer letting you know that you're not seeing the film as it was shown in theaters.

4. I would have told you
I could tell by the trailers and the plot summary that it sucked when it came out in the theater. We had this conversation before about another movie. I told you then: ASK ME FIRST.

I have an amazing sense about a movie's suckage without seeing it. I always have friends who poo-poo me and then go see it... then come whining back to me later that they wished they listened. But they do it again and again.

Don't be one of those friends.

more diversity of selection too, why don't you rent from blockbuster though? I actually considered working there but I probably won't since my campaign stuff is more important.

29. Netflix is excellent.
Current rate is $22 a month for three videos at a time. Return one, the next one on your list is sent. Arrival time is really quick here in Houston--there are mailing centers all over the country.

They have a great selection--popular to obscure. I'm especially fond of the TV-show sets. They tend to be quite expensive & there's not much TV I like that much.

20. go for it!
I even redeemed my purchase of "The Girl Next Door" by passing it along to the local branch. Great way to trim down the collection, and not be haunted by buyer's remorse.

If you kept the receipt, you might even get a charity tax credit!

the end credits ran so I could get it back to the store for the $1 credit on a future rental. Man, it sucked big time! Great special effects? Sure...but you get special effects like that in razor blade commercials these days.

31. Nya-nya-nya-nya-nya
I got to see it on the inflight entertainment system while flying from Los Angeles to Tokyo.

It was just okay if included in the price of the ticket. But I was really, really glad that I never had to pay extra to see that piece of bad special effects on steroids.

By the way, I have never actually bought a movie, especially not sight unseen.

41. Thought of hiring it today
But the video shop was out of them. However, they have a policy for certain selected films called "guaranteed in stock". If they don't have them, then you see it free later. I've got the coupon. So perhaps next it can be free down the drain.
