Outsourcing in my sleep...Was it a bad dream, a vision or
just a hangover from reading to many postings of DU'ers wanting to leave if W gets reselected....

I sat in the dirty parking lot of an old airport staring at a grimmy bas relief molded into the surface of the ACB (anti-carbomb barrier).

The scene was an epic depiction of a parting, an elderly woman, a grandmother, was making tearful farewells to several children while their mother tried to guide them away, alongside a middle aged man perhaps a father held an old man's hand probably his father's, but his face looked toward the runways with grim determination.

Along the base an inscription read, "To America's children who have left their homeland in search of opportunity...We will never forget you."

The sign over the entrance said in three languages "Center for Emigration Processing."

As the nation grows an increasingly tired, poor, hungry mass, yearning for opportunity many will gaze to distant places and see a chance at a better life. That glimpse of a time 75 years hence, when memorials and museums mark an American exodus just as there now are in Sweden and Ireland, can disturb your sleep.
