Really, it's a great idea. Garage sales are such a hassle and while I'll give to charities, they usually just turn around and resell the items and the employees get first pick at the "good stuff". I just don't think that's in the right spirit of things.

There are several cities around the country that have "furniture banks", not unlike food banks. Most of their "customers" are either families that have lost everything in fires or floods and are uninsured or people that were formerly homeless that now have a roof over their heads, but nothing under the roof.
