DUNBAR, W.Va. -- This cow was really MOOOO-vin.
A 300- to 400-pound heifer first spotted in the West Virginia town of Jefferson led police, firefighters and animal control officers on quite a chase Friday morning.
The cow ran to South Charleston, W.Va., then swam across the Kanawha River to Dunbar. It went through yards, alleys, and over railroad tracks before it was cornered. At one time, as many as 15 people were involved in the 30-minute pursuit.
Cpl. Mike Greathouse with the South Charleston Police Department said it was the toughest chase he's been on in awhile. One animal control officer was even kicked in the ribs before the animal was brought under control.
The cow is currently being kept in an area pasture until officials find out who owns it.
