Am i the only person getting extremely depressed as the election nears? |
|
I'm dealing with my own personal issues, but now as the election nears my anxiety level is rising. :(

1. Damn it stop this with the whining and self doubt - they want you to feel |
|
that way. We have nothing to hold back or be blue about. Kerry is doing a stand up job!!! * sucked. If you feel that bad get up off your butt and away from your monitor and do something about it. If you are not in a swing state and want to do something, get a part-time job and donate that money to the Kerry campaign to be used in the swing states.
Good lord people get a grip - we are winning!!!!!

7. Don't get complacent. The Republicans will stop at NOTHING... |
|
to cling to power. These people are, to quote Senator Kerry himself during an unguarded moment in the primaries, "liars and crooks".
Yes, Kerry/Edwards is doing a magnificent job. Yes, it looks very good for us. But let's be cautious, as well.

10. It looks good for us.... |

one day and bad the next... and the Repubs are getting nastier by the hour... they hunger to keep that power no matter who (or in Bush's case, WHAT) they have in the oval office chair.

Which is great. Just...some guarded caution.
But, personally...I won't be calm until Kerry takes the oath of office...

I've been struggling with my clinical depression for about two months; I've been barely functioning.
I am happy to report that I seem to be coming out of it, finally.

had HORRID depression problems for years. Buckets of therapy, prozac and of course meeting me :) have helped alot but one of the things that he says really did make a difference was buying one of those full spectrum lights and using it as the daylight disappears during the fall. It wasnt the whole piece but part of it.

Make phone calls.
Vote!
I've been pouty too, but my wife kicks my ass and I feel beeter.
Bush is going to lose. He's going to lose because he barely won last time and now far more of us can actually see how bad he really is.
Yes, the media is in the tank. Yes, almost 50% of voting Americans are total fucking retards.
But Bush just simply sucks. He is going down.
Chill.

I worry about the future of the country if Bush is reselected. Who knows what he would do since he doesn't have to worry about getting reelected if he wins? Things are going in the wrong direction now. Could this country take another 4 years in the wrong direction? If Kerry does not become president, should my husband and I emigrate? Should we fight for liberties? Should we have children in this country? There is a lot to worry about.

8. I can empathize totally. |
|
I find myself wanting to munch when I'm not hungry. Could also be anxiety over changing weather (getting cold and windy) and lack of sunlight in evening. But I can't seem to concentrate on anything else but this presidential race. I'll be so glad when it's over. I swear I will never watch television, read a paper, book, or get on the internet again if Bush gets elected. I will bury my head in the sand as do the people who will be voting for him. I really think that is they way they survive. Just don't ask questions; accept whatever is said as the gospel--that I question though... :-(

9. Well this looks to be a close race |

And I think a certain level of anxiety about it is understandable, but don't let it prevent you from doing all that you can. Even if you don't have the time to voluteer or the money to donate, you have a powerful tool at your disposal: your computer. Write letters to newspapers, talk radio shows, and vote in online polls. The more support Kerry gets from these areas the better off we are.

15. I feel a little anxious maybe; but everyone seems quite upset |
|
in general so I think the election is on a lot of folks minds.
I overheard quite loudly some French bashing at a supermarket; and I said to them "had we listented to the French, we wouldn't be losing boys in this stupid war", they were going on and on about oil and I said that every country has an "agenda", they pay 5.00 a gallon already and we will be doing so soon, enough, at this rate.

And depression is not whining. Reply #1...way too harsh!
I still feel fairly optimistic, but I suffer from severe recurring major depression...so bad I've had shock treatments. The impending election is triggering yet another relapse.
I think a little understanding is in order for those of us who are doing the best we can to cope.

Kind of up and down. Its a roller coaster.
I've had clinical depression problems, was on meds for years.
I follow a spiritual practice now which brings me out of the deep dark hole. I feel stronger for it.
I also believe that any positivity I can contribute in my sphere of influence helps offset the bad vibes going around. And no, I don't do it perfectly. ;)
PS your screen name cracks me up. I get a chuckle every time I see ya. :D
