and practice is much sweeter w/ a sharpened blade.
i've broken both wrists, leaving me w/ an inflexibility that wd limit my skill w/ the daito. i envy you that expression.
kendo originally, or from cross-training?
i'm a shodan in hawaiian kenpo, ranked, barely, in southern praying mantis.

|
Musashi is my teacher, i am a fast-draw artist with a nasty tequnique where i use my sheath as a weapon and a shield, and its not the sharpness of the blade (most of the time) but the quality of the blade, most are merely poured out of a forge, not folded

22. many modern swords are molded |
|
& drop forged, true. folding provides hardness for edge retention sandwiched w/toughness to reduce breakadge, sim to damascene teel, but more elegant in the japanese swords. musashi, hero of the bokken, wd cert agree w/you!
iado, the simutaneous draw & strike, is indeed the soul of the combat sword. the fluidity of a master is poetry.
my weapon of choice is the knife. i prefer a slim, western blade to the tanto for my purposes; started that training when i worked narcotics & concealibilty was paramount. i prefer ATS34 steel, excellent sharpness & a tough steel to boot. unsuitable for swords, the old techniques are still supreme for swordsmithing.
knifes lack the mass for follow through of the sword, o/c. practical as hell, but lacking finesse.

|
i have one with a 12 inch blade that i can wield with speed, its made of carbon steel, i think, its a little flexible but tough, with a diamond edge i can cut a man in half with it

24. i follow a progressive path |
|
progressing to the body core up the attacking limb.
primary targets are the peripheral arteries; you can bleed an opponent white in less than ten seconds by opening the brachial or femoral. need less than 4" of blade, but it must be keen.
arteries shd be opened, but not severed; a severed artery tends to neck down & slows bleeding. death is just as sure, but slower.
secondary targets are nerve plexes, like the radial & tendons/connecting tissue.
my dislike for fractal blades is merely asthetic, perhaps tempered by the pride i take in preparing a concave blade of quality steel.

INGREDIENTS:
4 to 5 pound beef brisket, trimmed 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 tablespoon ground black pepper 1 tablespoon yellow mustard 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cumin 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg PREPARATION:
Combine everything but the brisket in a bowl. Mix well. Rub over the surface of the brisket and wrap tightly in aluminum foil. Refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 300oF. Place brisket in a roasting pan on a roasting rack and poke a couple of holes in the foil. Cook for 4 hours. Remove from foil and let sit for about 10 minutes before carving and serving.

|
I actually barbequed a beef brisket about 2 months ago. Marinaded it overnight -- didn't know how is was going to turn out, so 1/3 I put on as a big hunk, 1/3 I wrapped in aluminum foil, and one 1/3 I sliced into strips .... all three ways turned out marvelously.
