I get this a lot...
I haven't cut my hair in about 4 1/2 years. That confuses the people around here. They don't realize that men can have long hair, too. So I get a lot of people thinking I'm a woman- until I talk.

Every time this happens, I think of one incident though... I was in class, and this woman walks up to me. "My boyfriend thought you were a girl," she said. Thinking as fast as I could, I responded, "My boyfriend thought you were a guy!"

I swear she almost fainted.

2. I have a lesbian friend
who is constantly mistaken for a man, on the phone AND in person-apparently women can't have short haircuts. She has a noticeable bosom and asks those rude enough to bring up their confusion over her gender, if it looks like a male attribute.

3. I got mistaken for a girl when I kept my hair short
Though I haven't got mistaken since I started growing my hair, what gives. I guess it was because I was a little short then.

5. My husband is a "freeze-framed" hippie and at age 53 still
has long hair. I love it, but workplaces aren't too "comfortable" with it. Oh well...always loved an independent, free-thinking, iconoclast type of guy!.

6. LOL
reminds me of that scene in the movie - what was it, Alien? Guy says to a very muscular gal HAVE YOU EVER BEEN MISTAKEN FOR A MAN? And she replied NO - HAVE YOU?

7. Grow some facial hair too
My guy friend with long hair has a mustache and goatee. He is never mistaken for a woman.

8. two things:
1. my facial hair is blonde, thus making it hard to see.
2. I have a goatee. People seem to think a bearded lady is more common then a long-haird man.
