Fall pictures for your enjoyment
I took these when Jason and I went to the Morton Arboretum today in Lisle, Ill. It was a gorgeous day and we had a really nice day.

Here's the link so that you can see them larger by using the slide show feature:

5. That appears to be a male plant....
They are usually on couches on Sundays in Fall. This is a very rare find indeed.

4. Thanks for sharing.
Being from New England sometime I tend to think we have the only fall colors. That orange one looks like a big Sugar Maple to me.

28. That's my favorite...
more than a dozen different colors among those leaves.... wow. We've got only two in Florida. Green and brown... and the brown is only because of the broken limbs from the hurricanes.

18. Wow, those are really beautiful
People here in Colorado get all excited about yellow, orange, and green.

I had a really nice day, too - went to a sort of dedication of a trail built in part with funds donated in memory of a friend who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Mexico in 2000. Actually, he was an acquaintance, but I'm friends with his brother and sister-in-law.

The trail leads to some climbing rocks that he loved. After hiking partway up, we sat on down on some rocks, and the project leader talked about the trail and how it all came together, in large part because the guy who's memorialized did the early legwork. Then his family and friends told stories about him. He was quite the adventurer and an amazing, quality person. It was just really uplifting.

I wished I'd taken my son. This guy led the kind of life I would wish for him.

20. Beautiful pictures
you have a little more vivid color up north than we have down here (little rain towards the end of summer - somehow drained our "reds"). Great to see the pics and you .... and evidence that things are going well/strong (yea!... and gives hope!)

Hope to catch up with you soon,

salin

It's nearly been a year and you really did play a part in it. Thanks!

Hope all is going well with you. We're probably going to do another Chicago gathering in November after the election. Perhaps you can make it then. :hi:

The colors in #3 and #4 - :wow: - are so beautiful. Stained glass windows have nothing on #3. I can't thank you enough for sharing these. Can we nominate a lounge thread for the front page? :D :hi:

33. What pretty pics!
Our foliage peaks closer to Halloween in Boston, but I was in the 'burbs this weekend and there were fiery oranges and reds everywhere!

Very good pics-the Morton Arboretum looks like a nice, tranquil place!
