Looks like I'm going to have a long Nov 2
I had signed up to work at the polls in our township, and was originally told that I'd probably get an afternoon shift. Well, I just talked with our town clerk, and he asked if I could work for the entire day - starting at 6:40am and ending around 9:00pm.

That tells me they're doing their best to prepare for high turnout, and AHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrggggggggggg I can't believe I'm going to be away from DU AND Air America ALL DAY LONG!!! :scared:

1. I know what you mean.
Democracy is great and all, but I ***HATE*** working the polls. It's not hard work, just painfully boring, even when turnout is high.

3. We're doing ours a little differently from the primary
This time, instead of the poll-watchers bringing data back to the phonebankers (who then called the people who hadn't voted), the pollwatchers are going to be knocking on doors, leaving literature, going back to the polls, and after the 6:30 p.m. poll-check, THEN we'll call and pester people who haven't voted. It'll be a long and tiring day for us too. My husband and I are working several precincts together, which makes it a bit easier.

4. I had planned to
work for ACT, doing the door-to-door GOTV canvassing or driving to polls during any hours that I wasn't working for the town. Because I saw that so many polling places are worried about not having enough workers as a result of high turnout, I figured I should sign up for that first, however. I didn't anticipate that I'd be putting in quite such a long day there!

That's nice that you and your husband get to do your work together. That will make it more fun. And you guys will be able to keep up on the news of the day. That's the most painful part of this for me!

I've already warned friends and family that they need to schedule their voting for times scattered throughout the day, and to bring me fun treats and good news! :D

And any DUers who vote in the Town of Middleton had better say hi to me! :hi:
