I say this as a Sansei (2nd generation born here) -- not only are a lot of my young relatives not the least bit interested in politics or activism, but there are neo-cons like Yoshida (and the U of T lawyer who recently sent me hate mail over my contribution to "Big Bush Lies"). And I just found out that the first JC elected to Parliament is with Harper's Conservatives, and will support him as he sucks up to Bush!

It's incredibly embarrassing, because I know many older JC's who are solid NDP supporters, and spoke out against civil rights violations in the aftermath of 9/11. They had the "street cred", having been through this themselves.

I guess I should be pleased that even though our bunch can turn out just as many twits as any other ethnic group on the planet, we aren't all being condemned for it ... but to see it happen so soon after our families saw the consequences of blind loyalty to authoritarianism is rather painful.
