3. Stayed in a St. Paul hotel near the Capitol on our honeymoon, and went
for a tour. It was pretty cool.
Also went to the state capitol in Iowa back when I was in Girl Scouts.

18. 8th Grade field trip!
It rocked... all I can remember about the actual building was the excess of marble.

(I was living in Minnesota at the time.) I think that's the only time.

Now I live in NYC, but I've never been to Albany.

12. I've been many times,
I was up there Saturday in fact.

I think Ohio's stathouse is kind of unimpressive for such a big state.

It's smaller than it looks, and you can't even see it from the interstate. I like the interior, though.

21. No kidding, that's one of the most most memorable in the country
Huge classic spiral columns. I loved visiting there. Even played some volleyball and tossed a frisbee on the big lawn in front.

16. I live a little more than a mile from Colo St Capitol
I walk accross the Capitol grounds quite frequently. It's really difficult not to walk through with my finger in the air when the Lege is in session, or if i thought that damn Gov Bill Owens was around. Colorado has far too many Damn repuglicans. I'd really like to piss on the New T'bird that has plates "elephnt1"

26. maybe we can talk the NDP into changing to LED "bulbs"
... if we get a new government next year?

BTW, several years ago I was carrying a friend's Christmas present (I bought him a large landing net at Capital Iron) home past the Lege. One of the security guys called out, "What's the net for?", and I shouted, "Have you seen Glen Clark around recently?" They thought it was hilarious.

22. Why certainly, in fabulous Carson City
Actually I like Carson City. Some reasonably priced decent golf in that area, quite unlike Las Vegas. No half hour logjams, either.

Our legislature is only in session every other year, believe it or not. Last time I visited during an off year, and took a nap upstairs in the senate balcony.

Then I moved to the other side of town (Victoria, B.C.) -- but I still come downtown and wander through the grounds once in a while.

32. I've never been in my own (Alberta), but. . .
I have done the tour of the State House in Bismarck, North Dakota. How many have seen that one?

It's a boring gray box on the outside, but inside are vast areas of the most beautiful woodwork I've ever seen.

35. "Close Up" field trip in high school
I also went for a tour of the DNR pollution testing office, which was really interesting.

On a separate field trip, we went to the city government offices and county circuit court in Grand Rapids, MI. It was also very educational-we sat through two hearings, which were memorable. One was a welfare fraud case, and the other was a lunatic who had written a death threat to then-President Reagan. Considering a lunatic had shot him a few months earlier, they were taking it very seriously.

We got a tour of the police lockup/drunk tank. They had a cop pose as a drunk to amuse us. Sometimes, cops can be fun.

The capitol in Albany is a pretty cool looking building. There are lots of interesting stories about when it was built. The Governor's mansion is cool too - they have a lot of FDR artifacts.

40. Many times
The DMV is right across the road from the Vermont State House and I tend to wander around there when I have DMV business. Montpelier is a little bitty town anyway compared to most capitals. The state house is nice. Lots of marble.
