3. Didn't Use The Water-Based Poly?
Non-flammable, wears just as well as the VOC stuff and the smell disappears a lot faster.

BTW, when you paint your walls add a tablespoon of Vanilla Extract per gallon of latex. The smell disappears within 2 or 3 hours and dosen't affect the color.

5. Missed The Refinished Reference
Yep, that's the way to do it. Hope it dosen't get too cold tonight because I would definately have my windows open, furnace off and an adequate of potables handy.

Don't forget the Vanilla Extract trick though---it works.

6. How do you keep dust out of the computers?
We're about to do the floors too. I don't mind the poly, but I'd hate to clog up a brand new computer with sanding dust.

Seriously, sanding generates flammable particles that are measured in microns. It's best to remove your system from the dust while the work is going on and after the VOC's evaporate after the first coat of Polyurethane.

Matcom did jog my memory though: if the floors are being refinished, the first coat must be chemically compatatible with the existing finish to ensure a good bond. Oil-to-Oil at least for the first coat and Latex for the next two or three.

On Edit: Fine wood dust is also hygroscopic (absorbes water) and may cause shorts on a circuit board if humidity levels rise. Another reason to get your system in a safe place.
