Waah! A cat I love has cancer....
I just learned that my next door neighbor's cat, Noosey, who's almost 18, has cancer.

Noosey practically lives at my house - I even gave her a special collar to get through my electronic cat door. She spends more time in my lap than my OWN cats.

She probably only has a few weeks left. I'm sad :(

2. I'm sorry, Dookus...
~huggggs~

The animals in our neighborhood are more like neighbors and trusted friends too. I'll bet your kitties will miss her as well.

4. heheh..
THAT I doubt. My old girl has reached a form a detente with Noosey, but they're hardly friends. They lay on the same carpet together, with their backs to each other. Noosey will occasionally, for no reason, give her a swat. But they tolerate each other, at best.

My kitten ignores her cuz she's no fun. My other guy seems to like her ok, though.

I lost my own Jesse on July 1. Still can't believe she's gone.

9. blm and bbmykel....
so sorry to hear about your losses.

I lost my old guy Scooter to cancer a few years ago. I had him 16 years. Was tough.

This girl isn't mine, but I'm extremely fond of her. She practically lives with me, and even sleeps with me on occasion. I'm just gonna miss her.

But she's almost 18. That's a good long life for a cat, and she's always had it good. So I'm sad, but not heartbroken.

Thanks for the kindness.

8. it's my neighbor's cat, actually....
but she practically lives with me.

I'm sad, but not heartbroken. I know 18 is a good long life for a cat, so I'll just spoil her until her time is up. She's a real sweetheart.

12. Same Here
What can you do except to make her life a little more comfortable in the time she has left?

I think she'd like a friend nearby though when the time arrives....

13. yes....
I feel honored, actually, because my neighbors (noosey's owners) are going out of town for the next week. They've invested me with the authority to decide if Noosey needs to be put down in their absence. I hope it doesn't come to that, but I do plan to be there whenever she has to go. She's my girl, too, and I just love her. Plus we both share a great vet who makes house calls. So she'll die in somebody's lap.

11. oh hell yeah, I will....
but I've known her well for 6 years now. She's just such a sweetie.

My neighbors have, believe it or not, 18 cats.

Noosey is the ONLY one ever to receive the privilege of a collar to gain access to my cat door. She's been one of the family for years.

I just feel bad for the old girl. She's funny as hell - is totally senile. Plus, I think she has a form of Parkinsons.

She'll start to do something, then stop. For 10 minutes. Or more. For instance, she'll look like she wants to jump up on my coffee table. Puts her front feet up - then freezes. Forever. I bump her on the butt and she jumps up.

She also has no short-term memory (but my 15 year old girl has the same problem), which is very amusing. I'll give my old girl a bowl of food. She'll eat a bite or two. Get distracted. Then come to me whining about being hungry. I have to pick her up and carry her to the food bowl and point out the food. Then she eats a few bites, gets distracted, comes to me, etc. etc. etc.

god, I love cats.

14. I've decided cats are just naturally brain damaged.
LOL! I mean - there is just no way to make sense of the things they do. I can read my dog Boober like a book .. well .. I can read my two cats too, but the cats needs are so much more .. urgent! and demanding!!

And oh, they plot to PUNISH you if they get mad or disturbed about something. LOL! I just laugh, but I always obey in the end. I'm a sucker, but I figure they wouldn't make such a BFD about something if it were not important. I was always the same way with my son. WTF, they thrive because of it, and it sure doesn't hurt anything to give it.

My Mufasa WAILS at me when he is unhappy about something. LOL! He is a TRIP and a half! He hates change, and he scolds me. Once he is acknowledged he is fine. Just gotta pay the props.

I'm sure all cats are brain damaged. :) There's just no other way to explain them.
