So now it's all about Curt Schilling |
|
Both bullpens are decimated. Schilling is going to have to pitch the game of his life on half a leg.
Unreal.

That's what NESN (The Red Sox network for those out of the area) has been putting on the screen now and then starting after Game 3...
The thing I like about this team is I'm not sure evn common sense tells them they are ever out of it. But man if this series isn't going to either make me an alcoholic, bald, or have an ulcer...or perhaps all three.
Game 8 is what Schilling was born for.....why he came to the Sox.
Classic.

8. Has NESN been showing the games? |

I've been watching on Fox. Ugh. Tim McCarver is the dumbest lump of shit in the western hemisphere.

13. I'd say the eastern hemisphere, too. |

Being a computer geek I stream the WEEI feed, delay it a bit so it's not ahead of the video...and then mute Fox. It's the only thing that keeps me relatively sane while watching this series.

6. Oh don't worry. Yankees will luck out as they always do. |
|
I don't mean to be cynical, but I wonder if the Yankees are handicapping the Red Sox just to make an entertaining series. It always seems that when a visiting team takes a late lead in Yankee Stadium - just once it seems the Yankees will lose - they immediately come right back and score more runs. Everything always go the Yankees' way. Even if they are in the worst possible slump, they find some way to beat the best of the best.
Here the Red Sox were blazing hot coming into this series and the Yankees were doing so-so. They would have lost to the Twins had Gardenhire not managed so poorly. Yet they defy logic and take a 3-0 lead.
As an Indians fan, I hate both Red Sox and Yankees, but the Red Sox clearly are the lesser of the two evils, thus I do hope they can somehow pull out this series. However, I am not counting on it. Hell would have to freeze over first.

A weakened bullpen only adds to the suspense. The Yankees are the Yankees because they yank everything out of their ass.

9. I don't want to look too far ahead |
|
But suppose there is a Game 7. I wonder who the hell Boston would throw. Arroyo would be throwing on three days rest, but he was forced to pitch an inning tonight. I'd have to guess that it would be Wakefield. Either that or throw Ramiro Mendoza back into the rotation.

Naaah...Sox exec Larry Luchino had it right when he characterized this as Luke Skywalker and the rebels taking on the Evil Empire.
Heck, NESN (the cable outfit that carries the Sox) even has a regular feature on the Yankees called "State of the Empire".
Ahh, to have visions of Steinbrenner spiraling into that pit like Palpatine at the end of Return of the Jedi...
