Can Boston pull a trifecta??!
Yes, a trifecta: The Sox take the World Series (against Houston), Kerry takes the White House, and the Patriots win the Super Bowl. Again.

Sorry Bruins and Celtics, I don't think you're contenders or we could dream of a five-way trifecta, whatever that word is.

Go Sox!

1. have to settle for two out of three, I'm afraid . . .
win two? . . . in the Bronx? . . . in October? . . . I don't think so . . . but if they do, I'll tip my hat and root for them in the Series . . .

2. A "five way trifecta" in horseracing is called
a quinella. :-)

5. What a great word
I'll have to file that one away for use at parties.

I think a Sox/Bruins/Pats/Kerry/Celtics quinella (!) would cause Mass. to spontaneously combust in ecstasy.

6. Actually, a quinella
is where you pick the first and second horse in any order. It's basically an exacta box. A superfecta is four horses in order. I don't think there's a "fivefecta".

7. I'll take your word for it.
I remember betting on a quinella once and I could have sworn it was 5 horses. :-)

3. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.................
Another poor delusional Red Sox fan I see. First, they'd have to beat the Yanks in order to be IN the World Series. That just ain't 'gonna happen. Red Sox fans live in a world of fantasy and are constantly having their hopes dashed against the rocks year after year. I DO have to admire you for your persistence though, however misguided.

Kerry takes the White House.... no doubt

Patriots win the Super Bowl again.. hard to repeat, but not out of the realm of reason

That's 2 out of 3.....you'd be bating .666 and THAT would get you into the Hall of Fame!

4. As a Bay Stater, I hope to god it's going to happen
But the Sox still have a long ways to go. The Pats (repeating) and Kerry will happen though! :toast:
