'Tainted Love' Singer Critically Injured

Singer Marc Almond of Soft Cell has suffered severe head injuries in a motorcycle accident.

Almond was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle when it collided with a car in central London on Sunday afternoon. Police say he was thrown from the bike.

It's unclear whether Almond -- who recorded the 1980s hit "Tainted Love" with Soft Cell -- was wearing a helmet.

Marc Almond was one of the few synth-pop survivors of the early 80s. He has a fairly successful solo career in the UK and has charted regularly since the mid-80s. He's got a great voice, and delivery to match.

I hope he comes out okay, but it's hard to tell with severe head injuries.
