Today is my son's second birthday.
We've been watching his new Wiggles DVD. Man, their tunes are catchy. Anyone ever heard the fruit salad song? "Fruit salad, Yummy Yummy" I can't get that song out of my head.

2. Congratulations!
Two is an interesting age. He'll just keep getting to be more and more fun, year by year. Until he hits 12 or so. Then Katy bar the door!

10. Yeah.. he's starting to count and
recognize numbers. He likes to point out the numbers that he recognizes when we go shopping.

un two free boor bive six eigh nah teh

That's how he counts. He always skips over seven because he hasn't figured out how to say it yet. He skips over one a lot too. It's cute when he counts.

I started introducing him to the alphabet recently too. He thinks the M is a 3 and S is a 5. He thinks N and Z are the same letter. He's obviously rotating them in his mind. It's interesting that he makes those relationships.

3. My youngest son used to call the Wiggles "Whammy Whammy..."
...because of the fruit salad song. Both my boys have "outgrown" the Wiggles now, they're pretty sure.

I grow wistful about it all...

7. Wiggles are pretty decent entertainment.
I was freaked out a bit the first time I saw them, what with the pirate who has a feather for a sword, but their TV show on the Disney network is a nice upbeat show the kids can watch from time to time.

And yes, the tunes are catchy.

8. Is that pirate guy off his medication or something?
I like the wiggles, but the pirate kinda gives me the willies.

9. Congrats to the Twofer!
It's banal and cliche to say this, but it really does fly by. My guy is four and it feels like he was just born. I agree with the above, though, about the fun growing exponentially. H. and I have big fun now, converse about everything, and each new "trick" he learns sets off the recording of "Ode to Joy" in my heart's boombox.

We've managed to dodge the Wiggles bullet, but only because of the dogpile that is Thomas the Tank Engine.

Get and read "Little Children" by Tom Perotta, stat!

11. Congrats, Mazel Tov
We have one who is about 8 months older than yours. We took him to go see the Wiggles in concert. He screamed for about half the show straight he was having so much fun... They had Cap'n Feathersword do the "Quack quack cockadoodle doo" song to the theme of Bohemian Rhapsody (acapella). I almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard.
