Sorry, I just picked up this album, and I haven't been so mezmerized by a piece of music since the first time I listened to "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway".
I'm dreaming this stuff now.

My favorite is Morning Bell.
Or How to Disappear Completely.
Not a bad song on it.

9. How to Disappear Completely is amazing! |
|
I love how the song is somewhat melancholy, yet turns into something triumphant toward the end. Just like an instrumental I once loved, "Whale & Wasp" by Alice in Chains (Jar of Flies EP). Ahhh, such sweet sorrow.
"Bulletproof (I Wish I Was)" is another one...

3. :) It's a Radiohead album |
|
Good stuff too! Especially if you're a progressive rock fan.

seriously, though, Motion Picture Soundtrack and Morning Bell are my favorite tracks. the conclusion of Motion Picture Soundtrack—the strummed harp and heavenly choir—is, for lack of a better word, pretty sublime. well thats two words, but I'm a heavy tipper.

The best part of me is the opening couple of seconds on my first track.

7. LOL. I agree, but it becomes the soundtrack for the entire day |
|
you simply cannot get the first few seconds of your opening track out of your head.
It's kinda nice on an autumn day in California. Eerie and brooding.

8. 'Bout damn time! It's a great freakin' record. |
|
I prefer its follow-up, Amnesiac, but I appear to be pretty much alone in that assessment.

Nothing to be sad about, with cheerful records like Amnesiac to keep up my spirits!

12. Cool, Amnesiac is one I don't have yet. |
|
Kid-A seems to be all about atmosphere, and that's what I like most about a group. So many don't get atmosphere, but Radiohead really seems to have a grasp of it.
I'm excited to find a "new" group that I actually like! I'm mostly a 70's progressive and freedom rock fan.

13. If you like Radiohead... |
|
then you should give some of these albums a listen:
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin/Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Portishead - Dummy Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One
They don't really sound like Radiohead per se, but they're definitely atmospheric.

17. Thanks! I'll give 'em a try! |

Flaming Lips is on Morning Becomes Eclectic all the time, and I think Nick Harcourt (sp?) has great taste in music, so it's gotta be good.
Thanks again for the recommendations!

16. I was kidding about the "cheerful" thing. |
|
It's a really dense, bleak record. Didn't want you to run out and get it thinking it was a guaranteed upper or something. But if you like atmosphereics, it's probably up your alley.

Couldn't pick one over the other.
Coincidentally, my favorite on Amnesiac is also (Amnesiac) Morning Bell.

I have never understood why Radiohead is so fawned over by critics and music geeks. I AM a music geek, but I think they're waaaay overrated. I really can't stand whiny singers, so that might be why.
