A Moral Question for Red Sox Fans, You Are Offered This Deal...
Kerry wins the presidency and Bush is tried and convicted for war crimes and sent to jail. In return, the NY Yankees will win the World Series for the next 10 years and the Red Sox will never win the series in your lifetime.

That's the deal. No other considerations will be allowed. None. It's a take it or leave it deal. Would you make this deal?

a grand slam by Jeter in the bottom of the fifteenth inning!

100 years already, what's another 10?

5. In the interest of fairness lets turn that one around on you
Assuming it's the Yankees that wouldn't win for your lifetime would you take the deal Yavin?

I'm not a fan of either, but I would give up a lot more than my favorite team's chance of winning a championship to have that scenario played out.

8. In A Minute, I'd Take That Deal
Humanity can survive the Red Sox winning championships, but I'm not sure that humanity can survive another Bush term.

32. I wouldn't
I may be overly optimistic, but I don't see Kerry losing this election. I think he is trending up and will win without a problem. Why would I give up the next 10 WS, which the yankees stand a good chance of winning at least half of, for something I'm pretty sure I'll get anyway.

The war crimes thing will never happen in a milion years. To be honest, I don;t much care about what happens to the shrub once he is evicted from the White House in January.

If I thought Kerry was goign to lose, I'd take the deal in a heartbeat.

7. The alternative is that the Sox win the series
and the world is destroyed in 3 years with Bush as president.

That's a no brainer.

9. No Friggin' Way!
I COULD say yes to your question, but seeing your Yankees logo makes me say NO.
Truth is, it's too late for your question. Destiny has already decided that the Red Sox will win the ALCS 4 games to 3 AND that John Kerry wins the election.
Bush WILL be tried for war crimes regardless (one can hope).

GO RED SOX!!!!!!!

Setting the stage for game 7 tomorrow. I really wish the Cubs were in the NLCs right now.

On edit...This was my 1,000th post. Fate, baby, FATE. Sox in 7 and on to the World Series. We Sox fans are a supsticious bunch.

10. Dude, that's perfect
If the Yankees won for the next 10 years, nobody would watch, Steinbrenner would lose his marketing money, go bankrupt on their enormous salaries, meanwhile I'll suffer some sort of accident and the Red Sox come back in 9 baby!

Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 01:37 PM by whoisalhedges
You know, an ironic death or something. Like it's the bottom of the 9th, Sox up by two, Yanks with two on; and Jeter lines a shot toward the left-field wall, where you happen to be seated. You reach for the ball all Jeffrey Maier like, and even though it's well short and a clear case of fan interference, the umps call it a homer. Game over, series over, season over, dream over.

You are lynched at sunup in front of Faneuil Hall.

On edit: alternately, I could just cut off your man parts and let you bleed out. Go Sox! :D

21. They can pack my ashes into a firework dubbed
The Great Bambino, and launch it over Back Bay the next night.

Or they could sprinkle the grass around the mounds with shreds 'o DS1, or just have the team literally beat my body into the ground with next year's supply of bats, or launch me into the visiting teams bullpen at a few hundred miles an hour with a cannon, or take my ten fingernails and place them in a ring of top tier seating - underneath an evenly spaced set of seats so my hands will forever be clutching Fenway.

22. "Forever Clutching Fenway"
Sounds like the title of the worst movie ever. It would somehow defy all reason and star both Meg Ryan AND Kevin Costner. A romantic comedy about baseball.

I need a drink.

12. Sox fans can live without winning the World Series
We know that much.

But I would only ask them what matters more THIS year: beating the Yankees or beating Bush?

The flip-side, as a Yankee fan, is the disgrace of blowing a 3-0 lead to Boston, painful as it would be, pales in comparison to the prospect of losing to Chimpster. This year it's politics over baseball.

13. They knocked down the house that Babe owned....
Apparently the bambino owned the house behind ours. (Town is Watertown, MA. The paper didn't say anything about his living in it, so I assume he didn't). Last week, a large escavator knocked it flat. Its getting turned into a multi-unit condo. Now that I think about it, I should have collected some debris for ebay...

Actually, it is clear that Boston will never win the World Series, so someone must have signed up for us in Boston already.

My only question: which jaiul will Bush be in?
