3. I married a southerner
from Alabama. I tried to make grits, fried ocra and fried chicken and all I ended up with was every window in the house covered with a film of grease...never got the knack!

4. Grits are delicious with butter and salt and pepper.
There's nothing better than grits with a couple of fried eggs. Fried in butter, naturally.

7. Never tried it with the cheese, but it sounds good!
Even ground parmesian cheese, the real stuff. Skip the butter in that case, it will detract from the overall dish.

Scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and grits with butter and salt. You just don't know what you're missing! :9

23. Well, cooked for a proper length of time...
Northern grits tend to be under-cooked. I prefer it with butter and salt- and a little bit of sugar. It has to be smooth, not lumpy.

Perhaps I'm being a tab picky. lol

26. After they are "done,"
put the whole pan in a larger pan of simmering water --like a steam line-- and then cook your aigs. I also use milk instead of half the water. Yum!
