Bands You'd Like to See Reunited...
SZJ's Pixies post got me thinking...

In addition to the Pixies, I'd like to see:

The Replacements
Big Star
Dumptruck
Uncle Tupelo
Gear Daddies
fIREHOSE
The Police
The Dukes of Stratosphear
Dinosaur Jr.
The Jam
The Clash (hey, this is a fantasy question--death doesn't apply)
Thee Headcoats
Smashing Pumpkins

I blew off a practice to go to their concert- the Band Director was former sturmbanfurher- what a jerk.

The concert was great!

14. Yes. I'd like to see Nirvana with Dave singing...
...Chad Channing on drums, Pat Smear on guitar and Chris Novoselic on bass. This is feasible, IMO, for a reunion tour. And man, that would be SWEEEEEET. Dave Grohl could sing all of the old favourites. Oh man, I'm drooling....

61. Blasphemer!
You can't have Nirvana without Kurt, and there's no way that Krist Novoselic would ever go for it.

Now on the other hand, if the lineup you mentioned used another name ("Foo Germs 75" maybe) and made some original music, that could be interesting.

My gawd, I didn't think anyone would know of them any more. Talk about a band! I don't think they are officially done, though - unless you are talking the original lineup with Kirk Swan - its all Seth Tiven now. Did you hear Lemmings Travel to the Sea? I didn't track down that one, a year or two ago. Who know - they might be due for another soon?

after I wrote that I thought that too. I looked up a piece on the net and didn't find any mention of him. I bought a Salem CD a bit back and enjoyed it, never saw just him live. THta would be great. Seth owns the rights to the name, as I understand, but with that protracted legal can of worms who knows what the whole story is. Well, its sad, that can safely be said.

53. Spinal Tap
Spinal tap's story pretty much parallels the story of my own band. We're still playing after 41 years but probably at the level where ST ended up. Our leader still thinks we're making the big-time when we get the same scale we got for playing "shot'n' a beer" places 20 years ago. He won't take a break or get off the stage if there's one person clapping out there. Toward the end of our two-hour sets I can see there're a lot people who would like to get up and leave but they're too polite. When we finally quit it's like a fire drill.

I loaned our "fearless one" a copy of Spinal Tap once and he didn't get it. Yeah, I'd like to see Spinal Tap reunited for at least one more road trip.

66. I read an interesting pice on Tommy and GnR
it basically said, fuck off if you have an attitude about Tommy playing bass for GnR. He probably made more in the time playing for them than in his entire 'mats career combined. He was, I believe, the youngest singer songwriter ever inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame and he was pretty much scraping by without the GnR gig. Unlike a lof of us who went on and got "normal" lives, Tommy stuck it out in rock and roll and the return is that he has to tour with GnR to "cash in"

69. Hell, I don't begrudge him that.
He doesn't exactly have a fall-back career--he's been playing rock 'n' roll professionally since he was thirteen. After a decade or more slogging it out on the indie circuit, I think he deserves all the dough he can get. He's certainly got enough 'indie cred' to last two lifetimes.

71. you said it
and, its sounds like he's back out there still doing the indie thing, see post 70. I'd love to see that. Anyone ever see Bash and Pop? They never got down near me.

Hello?!?!?

Also (and going with the physically capable rule):
  • Depeche Mode w/Alan Wilder
  • Disciples of Astaroth
  • Altered State (supposedly they have. I'll believe it when I see a CD)
  • Tears for Fears

... off the top of my head.

    62. The Supremes!
There really can't be a true reunion with Florence gone, but I wish Diane would come off her high horse and sit down with Mary and Cindy and really put on a great show!
