12. Actually, I met Peter Wolf in 1980
I was in a band that opened for Seger for 3 months. Wolf was at one of the shows in Boston (3 shows at Boston Garden, most of 2nd live Seger album recorded there).

21. Yeah, they smoked in the early years
think: Cinderella Ballroom, Whammer Jammer and Hard Drivin' Man. Those songs still hold up.

8. Give It To Me
Reggae beat followed by great blues harp & guitar solos, fading out with percussion, and don't forget that keyboard riff after the lyrics:

Why keep me cold, when it's so warm inside?
Come on baby, your love is too good to hide!

36. They did it first, in '62.
And the group was composed of Bobby Womack and his brothers! Womack re-recorded the song hiself 12 years later and had a big hit with it in his own right.

Just your basic 12-bar blues instrumental, but they really delivered it...

Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 07:22 PM by thatgemguy
Saw J. Geils the first time as a warm up act for an Emerson Lake and Palmer show at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena, early 70's.

Saw them again at an all day "World Series of Rock" show at Cleveland Stadium, great bands including Tower of Power, and J Geils. That show's headliner was the Rolling Stones!

J. Geils rocked everyone into a frenzy that day!!!

Damn! They don't do shows like that any more...

26. I liked the early stuff
I thought "Sanctuary" was a real good album. When I was a teen in the late 70's, "We're gonna Blow your face out" was a party must have album.

27. How cool of you to list "Just Can't Wait"!
Best J. Geils song ever.

I also liked their live cover of "Where Did Our Love Go?"

"One Last Kiss" is up there too.

I'm not a fan but Detroit is a rock and roll town unlike any other.
