Another reason I hate Washington State
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 07:08 PM by ZombyWoof
FUCK their stupid-ass TimEymanized bureaucracy, their useless economy, and their worthless government workers. And their traffic, and their dreary SAD-inducing weather...

I had a message on my answering machine TODAY from some dumbshit from their King County Worker's Relocation Program. She said she *just* learned about me moving to Arizona, and reminded me that I had enrolled over 2 years ago in their (worthless!) job relocation program, so please give them a call and let them know my status...

Also, she said she had been trying to contact me "for some time".

Well, you dumbass, I have been in AZ since August 2003, I now have a PERMANENT job, something your worthless crap program was NO HELP IN GETTING, and since I put in a change of address - just how long have you been trying to contact me??

I really see no need to call her back. I am never moving back to that mildewed hellhole, and since that program was FREE, for workers who lost their jobs due to 9-11 (which is what I was), I owe them NOTHING.

:grr: End of anti-WA/King county rant.

ON EDIT: She sounded agitated, like it was rude of me to leave for AZ without letting them know. No, you idiot, it was rude making me attend these mindless paperwork sessions back in the summer of 2002 that yielded no interviews, no contacts, no NOTHING. Not a peep!

10. I lived there for 15 fucking years
Please folks, NO LECTURES. It was once fun, but no good unless you are rich. It is so... over. 1992 over.

and we'll happily let you root for the Mariners.

3. Is Washington that bad? We were thinking of moving there...
...maybe at some point. Oh well. I guess everywhere has it's good and bad points.

I'm sorry that it was so bad for you, there. And I'm really sad to hear that you lost your job and were out of work so long. I know from experience that is never a pleasant experience. Glad you found something else. Hope things are going much better in AZ! Do you like it there better?

I'm in Washington and I love it here. It's a matter of perspective. I also think ZombyWoof is aces, and if he's happier in Arizona, then I'm happy for him. Even if we'll miss him up here.

11. The Mariners started losing the day I left
Serously, they didn't start winning until I moved to Seattle... and started their old ways again when I left.

I love my WA friends, and I trust they don't think I confuse THEM with the place, which I once loved, but the divorce was not amicable, lol.

4. winters are CRAP - summers are nice
Port Townsend is WONDERFUL

San Juan Island are WONDERFUL

Washington is a military strong hold -- and that is crap. Major Navy, Army, Air Force installations in WA State.

Very little traffic planning -- or land use planning -- mostly after the fact.

The state did vote for Clinton, and Gore and projected to vote for Kerry.

It is helpful when Californians and others move away -- helps with the traffic flow.

A popular t-shirt shows the freeway going from Portland Oregon to Washington with a special lane marked -- Californians moving to Washington -- the lane dumps directly into the Columbia River.

6. LOL - If you think our winters are crap,
maybe you'd like to spend a few in Minnesota for comparison.

12. I'm thinking of someplace SOUTH for winter
very south -- way way south.

At least the Minnesota winters have white snow which reflects the sun and the whole place looks BRIGHTER.

Winters in the Pacific North west are Gray -- even if it isn't raining the clouds are gray -- endless gray.

One year we have 90 days of rain -- every single day -- and then a couple days of no rain (but gray clouds) and then more days of rain.

This climate is very bad for asthma -- because of the use of wood. According to reports in respiratory health med journals. Major urban areas have regulated wood smoke -- but rural areas still use wood for heat and with the sky rocketing cost of heating fuel -- the use of wood for heat will increase.

Also this area is bad for arthritis.

However, some people really like the mild winters and don't mind lack of sunshine. Which is why so darn many people from Minnesota and Montana and South Dakota have moved to Washington State.
