Google's Desktop Search (new program)
http://desktop.google.com/?promo=hpp-gds-en-us-2

I've got it, and it is currently indexing files. While this may take up some space on my harddrive, I've set it to store in the 200Gb, so its safe for now. I'll get back to you all when its done (a long time).

Features include:
•A googlelike search of your computer for:
-files
-websites (offline or not)
-chat history
-emails
•All above are dissableable
•integrates search for computer and internet files (can be turned off, too)
•Can (or can not) send info to Google. (easy to turn off)
•400k, nice download time on a 56k

6. New Google tool raises questions about privacy
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2002066566_googlerisk19.html

People who use public or workplace computers for e-mail, instant messaging and Web searching have a new privacy risk to worry about: Google's free new tool that indexes a PC's contents for quickly locating data.

If it's installed on computers at libraries and Internet cafes, users could unwittingly allow people who follow them on the PCs, for example, to see sensitive information in e-mail messages they have exchanged. That could mean revealed passwords, conversations with doctors or viewed Web pages detailing online purchases.

7. In these times of trouble...
...I think I'll stay away from products that generates another copy of my data, particularly coming from a company that insists on tracking my searches using the same cookie as my email and desktop searches.
