baseball throughout my entire life... I have never seen such a cheap ass play as we just witnessed A-rod pull; especially in this high profile of a game. Downright pathetic.

25. Perhaps you're too young to remember . . . |
|
The 1977 World Series when Reggie Jackson stuck his hip out while coming off of first base to deflect the relay throw on a double play. The ball ricocheted out into right field, and the Yankees went on to stage a game-winning rally against the Dodgers.
I'd hesitate to nominate any particular bit of Yankee cheating as the most cheap ass play -- there are just too many candidates.
The smoke bomb that came out of the stands and held up the beginning of the ninth inning in the final game of the 1976 LCS.
The kid reaching out of the stands to interfere with a fly ball that was erroneously ruled a home run against the Orioles (I forget which year that was).
And on and on.

33. Damn, I remember Reggie Jackson's "hip check" of the ball |
|
I thought at the time: "what a jerk, and he got away with it". and the kid at Stinkee Stadium was Jeffey Maere of New Jersey in 1996, allowing the Stinkees to go on to win the World Series against a vey strong Atlanta team which should have won it all, were it not for the right field umpire getting in the way of a foul fly ball that the RFer would have caught were he not in the way. Atlanta was on the verge of going up 3 games to none (after beating the Yankees twice in NY), and that one missed play allowed the Yankees to rally and beat the Braves culminating in the dramatic Jim Leyeritz homer off of the Braves top reliever.

Tony Tarasco did nearly catch that. Seems like this isn't too uncommon in their history to get dirty calls in their favor, thankfully the umps had some sense tonight, I was like oh nooooooo when I heard what happened, finally saw it actually a few mins ago, what the hell was A-Rod thinking.

And whatever it was, I am so damn happy it happened to him. And probably a bunch of Mariners fans are happy too.

Knocked the ball out of the glove of the fielder and is called out. Erased his boyfriend's run... 2nd out, 4-2 instead of 4-3.... classless, clueless yankee fans throwing balls on the field...
A-rod pouting, that smarmy fuck.

What a bastard - trying to get away with that shit. Umps doing a spectacular job in this game with the home run call and now that. Great job by Arroyo getting Sheff out. Sox need 1 more run though at least to keep it safe.

18. How come nobody's mentioning that the Sox pitcher and first baseman |
|
double teamed A-rod and blocked his path to first base? It would have been OK if it was the first baseman who had the ball, but the Bosucks pitcher was standing in the baseline blocking first, and he did not have the ball. That can't be legal. Talk about interference!

glove off in trying to knock out the baseball. theres no place for that in the game, it just looks like something a young boy might try but not a professional player
