On the Central Coast.... I always heard it called 'Plain Rain'; rain pushing horizontally with the strong winds (named after the Oxnard Plain, I thought)
Today some old timer told me it's actually 'plane rain'...like a level.

It seems like things are so beautiful there most of the time, but every so often, those brush fires and mud slides seem to permeate the landscape instead. Anyway, be safe. :)
