1. I'm a pig.
Well, mostly. I disagree with the planting trees answer though. Why would you plant two trees and wait 99 years when you could plant 20 trees and wait five years?

I do use recycle bins here, and separate cans from glass from plastic and re-use containers with refills and avoid plastics whenever possible, but Texas does not consider required recycling to be an issue unfortunately.

My German kinfolk tell me that they have "recycle enforcement" officers poke through their garbage to make sure they are properly recycling, and people get costly tickets for not separating/recycling.

4. Older trees are more efficient
I don't know if 20 young trees=2 old trees in air cleaning abilities. You could plant 2 old trees-I am counting old trees in a nursery over the next few weeks-or months.

7. "recycle enforcement"?
Never heard of it. It is basically like this:
sorted Garbage is free; unsorted is quite costly. The contract with the disposal company usually handles what happens with unsorted garbage in the wrong bin; normally they'll put the disposal on the bill (which can get ugly with multi-party houses).

2. I got 8 out of ten
I'll have to tool around the UK in a car over flying to India (which is what I would rather do) and take tea in a polystyrine cup over H2O in a plastic bottle-but I would do that in the UK anyway too.

6. I know I am nowehere near as Green as I oughta be
I stopped using paper plates and plasticware, but I still love those ziploc bags. Reusing them over and over helps assuage the guilt a little, but not entirely. *l*

9. I didn't even understand this one!
How about heating the beans? Which configuration will get them sizzling the quickest and therefore use the LEAST energy?

A: Hotplate and pan of the same diameter.

B: Pan of bigger diameter than the hotplate.

C: Hotplate of bigger diameter than the pan.

:D
