How do you get the red wine taste off of your palate? |
|
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 01:22 PM by Bushneedstogo
Several other students and I went out for wine last night and one of the guys bought Penfold Sharaz from New Zealand that cost $48.00 dollars a bottle. I keep tasting cigars in my mouth and I don't smoke. I have gargled with Listerine so many times that the bottle that was originally full is not empty.
The taste is so bad that I keep gagging :puke:. I have to attend a Dinner Party tonight and I don't know how I am going to make it if i keep feeling this sick.
I also have a class tonight with the freepers that argued me that Bush was elected by God.

6. Try Brushing Your Palate with Toothpaste |

along with the rest of the inside of your mouth. Just a suggestion.
That's why i don't drink Shiraz or Merlot that often. They taste like Burgundy that's been diluted with dishwater. It might be wise to avoid wines whose description reads: "Hints of cherry and plum blend with the oppressive taste of pipe tobacco."

11. 1) Penfold's is from Australia. |
|
2) If you're tasting bitter, burning-tobacco notes in a Penfold's shiraz (as opposed to fresh tobacco, which can sometimes be present), the wine has oxidized. Your friend should return it for a replacement bottle.
3) McLargeHuge gave you a good suggestion. Bread sops up the flavor. I'd lean more toward a palate-coater like cheese rather than hot chilis, though.
4) If all else fails, drink something else. Until you are no longer able to experience the sensation known as "taste."

Perhaps eating greasey or sugary food would help to get you to metabolize whats left.
In my humble opinion New Zealand (and Australian) wines just suck. Offer some to your freeper friends.

That's what is called a looooong finish.
Above suggestions are about the best: bread, and as a last resort brush palate along with teeth and gums.
Too bad, I think the Aussies and NZs make good shiraz.
