meanwhile half a mile away, a day earlier, I am accosted by a homeless man outside of a drugstore who wants some change (being the softie that i am, I give him a buck.) The man then asks me who I am going to vote for. Being some what interested in where the discussion might go... I reply "Kerry"... he then puts his hands together in an almost prayful way and says ... "Oh won't you please give Bush another chance?"... to which I say (as I unlock the car door and begin to get in)..."Not a chance..."

How the hell are you? You may be posting as you always have and I just haven't seen you around. Me? I'm in moderator hell in LBN. I don't post very much anymore or read much except LBN now.

The project I have been working on for years just moved into/startup implementation ... killer hours. I moved but never had time during work hours to do things like get a computer hookup (until a couple of weeks ago) - so my DU time was limited to very early and very late night (mostly reading lbn, editorials, and gd - to get the sense of what issues/stories were generating "excitement".... first time the DU bunny rabbit effect (where a hot topic will spur a gazillion side threads) has ever seemed helpful)... then for a couple of months only on the weekends. Finally hooked up the computer in the second home (living between two homes/cities can be a pain) and am back to early/late viewing -and on rare days - getting home early enough to be able to play on DU!

Kudos to you for taking on the lbn moderating gig. Very important, but I would guess very thankless work. But for all the days when I have only 20 minutes to get my news fix, cutting out all of the dupes - so I can quickly get the broadest range of stories... priceless. Thanks!
