yanks would have gotten a bit of a lift from Pedro coming in (and getting two) but will be deflated again after the homer.

30. As a Mariners fan who is pulling for Boston right now,
I still get spasms every time I hear Timlin's name... sounds like he's been doing a hell of a lot better for the Sox than he did for the Marners.. the Cruz Jr for Timlin/Spoljaric trade is still regarded as one of the worst trades in Mariners' history.

116. West Coast transplant from Boston here - CT really...

I'll die a Red Sox fan (and I almost had multiple heart attacks the last four days), but the Mariners are my adoptive team and I totally agree with you and remember that trade.

My nephew and his girlfriend are out here and I told them all about 1995 and Edgar Martinez and his double that kicked the Yankees ass.

Gotta luv GAR!!!

are the team of young childhood? Both parents are from Baltimore, my father grew-up just a few blocks from old memorial stadium. First major league game I ever went to was there, back in the days of Palmer, Cuellar, Mcnally, and Boog. I'll never forget hearing the cheers for Mr. Powell, and thinking they were boos. Man that guy could hit.

I remember the last out was a long fly to center field. I was listening on the radio in the car, and the Mariners' announcer said, "BELTED to deep center field." Then the reception cut out for some Spanish language station. I almost drove off the road trying to get the game back.

51. 1997 Divisional Series
I have to be biased for my Indians. In Game 4, the Yanks were up 2-1 in the series, 2-1 with two outs in the bottom of 8th when Sandy Alomar Jr hit an opposite field homerun off of Mariano Rivera to tie it. The Tribe would score in the bottom of the 9th to win Game 4 and would go on to win Game 5 the next day behind 21 year old pitcher Jaret Wright. Game 4 was Rivera's first blown postseason save and he would not blow another one until Game 7 of the 2001 World Series. Also, before Game 4, the Yanks had their bags packed all ready to go to Balimore for the ALCS.

81. I was at Game 4 of the 97 Division Series
and it was one of the most thrilling nights of my life. Talk about quickly going from despair to joy. The crowd at Jacobs Field was unlike anything I have ever experienced. To date, no Indians game I have attended has matched Game 4. If Sandy Alomar Jr did not hit that miraculous homerun, the Indians would have never gone to the ALCS or World Series (to eventually break our hearts Red Sox style).

88. Okay....NOW how will the Yankees come back in the 9th? (revised)
I am guessing 3 runs from a series of base hits and walks and a grand slam with two outs and two strikes.
