Yankee fans, we have to retool for this year.
The Yanks should try to add Ichiro, Bonds, Clemens (again), and Randy Johnson.

6. NO CLEMENS
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 11:14 PM by YankeesFan
TOO OLD.

I WANT YOUNG STARTERS, MY AGE(34) or YOUNGER. PREFERABLY ALL UNDER 30. WE'VE SEEN THE PROBLEMS WITH KEVIN BROWN AND AGE.

We need young starters like Oakland's guys. I wouldn't mind having two out of their three aces. What about Hudson and Mulder? That would sure bolster our rotation:

Mussina, Hudson, Mulder, Duque, and someone else.

Either way, we GOTTA invest in some decent starting pitching.

10. YOU WILL NOT STEAL OUR STARTERS
The Oakland A's are not a farm system for the Yankees.

Don't you guys have your own farm system?

7. They need starters
Man, I'd hate to be working for Steinbrenner right now. Better pack your bags now, Cashman, save the trouble later.

Only Jeter, A-Rod, and Matsui are truly safe. The first two mainly because of the contracts, and Hideki b/c the Boss loves him.

14. Ichiro would be a plus
Barry Syringe Bonds may help.

I'd be leary of shelling out big bucks for Johnson.

Clemens wont be back.

16. can't get Ichiro, and don't want Bonds, Clemens or Johnson . . .
but I'd bet on Carlos Beltran in center field next year . . . and a lot of changes on the pitching staff, both starters and bullpen . . .

17. they need to.....
rebuilt theor starting pitching staff big time...plus they need a tought lefty in the bullpen and more depth to take away pressure from Gordon and Quantrill.

20. All they can rely on is free agency
The farm system is empty, and will be for several more years. Whatever pitching talent they have is at Single A - everything else was traded away.

They may get Beltran, but Beltran in center field would not have won that series for them. They're aging everywhere, and they have no starting pitching or middle relief.

Not much out there free-agent wise (sorry, but Pedro is on a downhill slide) and they can't trade for anyone.

While I'm not looking to upset Yankee fans, i think it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

21. We Have To Get Rid of Cashman
and rebuild from the ground up, or we're going to have to fire Torre because he simply cannot manage in key situations. His style of management worked when he had players that understood how to win. He now has players that are good, but they don't know how to win in key situations. He simply cannot "trust" his players. He has to tell them what to do, but he refuses to do that. Not telling your team to bunt against a hobbling Schilling, is just assinine.
