3. Yes. It is markup written by MS Office's html engine.

7. DON"T TOUCH THE MS OFFICE HTML ENGINE!!!!!!!!!!!
Use standards.....go for a better html editor such as dreamweaver
http://www.dreamweaver.com

it even has a ms word html cleaner :D

5. yup, yup and yup. I know basic html - it's this weird 'o:p' inside the
brackets that we're wondering about.

I did post my original question using html brackets and it (the brackets and their contents disappeared). Thanks for the tutorial though, you're patient and very good at explaining.
