3. It's a personality test....
But I am an introvert (INTJ), so I guess this one doesn't apply to me.

8. Here ya go.....
The free test at the official site only gives an incomplete answer.

I think this is based on an older test, but gives a complete 4 letter answer.

9. I'm a total ENTP
And according to this description, "Q" from Star Trek is another one. Cool.
http://www.typelogic.com/entp.html

I once had to talk to an "industrial psychologist" (my workplace puts all potential hires through him -- an intrusive part of an otherwise good place to work) and he started with the "which do you prefer: A crowd or alone? Thinking or feeling?"
I interrupted him and told him I was an ENTP, if he was doing Meyers-Briggs. His response was, "I got that. Thanks. But this isn't Meyers-Briggs." He then proceeded to read me a bunch of other MB questions...

10. I am a champion, my friends!
And I'll keep on fighting till the end! At least that's what they tell me. I am very rare! Only 2or 3% of the population are ENFP's! Look at me!!! I am special!!! Where's my short bus!

12. Free part of the test says I'm an Idealist (NF). I refuse to be
categorized, though. :-) Must be the idealist in me....

I've taken the full test before, on paper, and have no idea what I was deemed to be then. I don't give any credence to these things, no matter what psych PhDs may say - I find myself in too many gray areas on too many questions. I mena, the Idealist thing does sound a lot like me, or at least one of my major facets, but I'm not sure it's the whole story. They may offer a general indicator, these tests, but I think that they're pretty useless...

Here's what it says about the 'NF' types, anyway, whatever 'NF' stands for (non-functional? not giving a f***?):

Idealists, as a temperament, are passionately concerned with personal growth and development. Idealists strive to discover who they are and how they can become their best possible self -- always this quest for self-knowledge and self-improvement drives their imagination. And they want to help others make the journey. Idealists are naturally drawn to working with people, and whether in education or counseling, in social services or personnel work, in journalism or the ministry, they are gifted at helping others find their way in life, often inspiring them to grow as individuals and to fulfill their potentials.

Idealists are rare, making up no more than 8 to 10 percent of the population. But their ability to inspire people with their enthusiasm and their idealism has given them influence far beyond their numbers.

13. Quick and dirty test here
Edited on Fri Sep-12-03 12:52 PM by ForrestGump

http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.html

Still deems me an 'NF' type, of the INFP variety.

Allegedly:

"People of this type tend to be: quiet, reserved, and kind; deeply passionate, sensitive, and easily hurt; loving and dedicated to those close to them; creative, original, and imaginative; curious and flexible in small matters; nonconforming.

The most important thing to INFPs is their deeply held beliefs and living in harmony with their values."

And they even list my job as one that INFP types are cut out for.

How to Spot INFPs:

* idealistic with deep yet private passions

* creative and imaginative

* initially hesitant and cautious

* original, even funky dressers

Tips for Communicating with INFPs:

* Share genuine beliefs and values to establish rapport

* Respect their slower warm time and need for privacy

* Emphasize the ways ideas will benefit others

How to Love an INFP
(important!) :D

* Appreciate my uniqueness and sensitivity.

* Be a patient and supportive listener.

* Respect my privacy and my need for emotional intimacy.

* Be reassuring and gentle in your words and actions.

* Try not to force decisions too quickly, or bug me about being messy.

* Above all - respect my feelings and never demand that I compromise my values.

Darn tootin'!....hey, maybe there's something to this stuff, after all....they seem to be right on the mark with all this, but I still don't believe in them as the final word. We're too complex for even the multiple categories these tests generate.

EDIT: check out my homies! (Calvin!):

Mary, mother of Jesus (when did she take the test?)
Billy Shakespeare
Longfellow
A. A. Milne
Helen Keller
Mister Rogers
Neil Diamond
James Taylor (noooooooooooo!!)
Julia Roberts
Scott Bakula
John F. Kennedy, Jr.
Calvin (Calvin and Hobbes)
E.T.

14. INFP
Actually, I'm nearer the middle on the E/I and T/F scores. But my S/N and J/P scores are way out there on the right.*

*Spare the jokes, please. The right side of the chart is where the N and P scores fall. BTW, a College Professor once told me that almost all Jungians were INFP's.
