MIAMI - Telemarketers are now screening their calls, instead of the other way around.

The American Teleservices Association isn't laughing at Dave Barry, not after the Pulitzer Prize-winning humor columnist for The Miami Herald listed the group's telephone number in his Aug. 31 column and sparked a flood of phone calls to the group's offices.

Thousands of Barry's readers have done as they were told, forcing the association to stop answering its phones. Callers now hear a recording, which says that because of "overwhelming positive response to recent media events, we are unable to take your call at this time."

heeheehee. This guy is great!

2. Funniest man in the known universe.
I've said it for years.

If you saw the Warren Zevon tribute on VH1 the other night, you saw that Dave and Warren were good friends too.

3. He did an article about Warren...
...just the other day, telling about when Warren joined the Remainders (Barry's group with Stephen King, and a few other writers), and they were to do 'Werewolves of London' and Warren demanded that Stephen Kjng sing it (which he did)...I thought that was SO cool...

6. So maybe Florida doesn't suck after all
We've got Dave Barry, Carl Hiaasen, Elmore Leonard, and Tim Dorsey.

It slmost makes up for all those Republicans and the Giant Mutant Cockroaches. Almost - but not quite.

7. I would say "one time funniest man etc"
His later books just have this forced feel to them, he depends more on obscure analogies than actually writing something funny.

DB, if you're reading this, don't feel bad, you've given me many good side-splitting laughs.

Find your groove again!

10. I think he started to go downhill when he and Beth got divorced.
You can almost see the slide.
