How to save money on cable
I just called time Warner and told them I want to go to just basic cable and roadrunner instead of digital cable, HBO, HBO on demand, and roadrunner. The customer service person said - Let me see what I can do. About a minute later they told me they can give me my same service for 10 dollars less a month. Basic cable is 55, roadrunner is 44.95, 9.95 for HBO and 3.95 for HBO on demand. I was paying 117 a month, now 97. Ten bucks is ten bucks. Try it and see if the cut your rates too. It's worth a try.

2. I don't have cable
and have been cable free since 1993.
I fear it will be an expensive addiction.
There is always the library.

3. Switch to DirecTV
We have HBO, TiVO service, two boxes and the whole thing only costs $70. I can't believe you are paying $55 for crappy basic cable.

6. Problem with the dish is if it rains there's no signal.
Not for everyone, but LOTS of people have that problem. Also need to check if local channels are covered with any particular dish package.

14. I have local channels
and I've only had problems with reception when it is really bad, and only for a few seconds. My cable used to go out far more often than DirecTV does.

7. switch to dish network
direct is owned by Murdock even though he is only allowed to 33% dish net should cost you half that and give you some good programming cable sucks and has no future the only thing good about cable is they are able to do local public things but they choose not to,that was a service with no profit. The f.c.c. has to be sorted out fast.

9. Um, cable does have a future. Ever heard of Broadband service?
Or digital phone service? Cable is not going anywhere anytime soon.

16. I get 16 channels over the airwaves now that I'm back in the city.
I will never pay for TV again. If I can't find something I want to watch in 16 tries, I'll read a damned book.
