have you heard this is his last US tour? He keeps mentioning at every concert that "sometimes goodbye means farewell" or "this might be the last time we'll see each other again"

or maybe he's finally decided to throw his aging body down to the rocks below

I think Macy Gray is one...I think India Arie could be in the long run...she's a great writer and musician...if Alicia Keys backs off the commercial stuff and sticks with her gut she could be...right now all these women are too young to tell if they have the staying power...one has to be really addicted to hard work to be Etta or KOKO Taylor where commercial success is scattered but artistic success continues

I mean, their songwriters (barring Eryka Badu, whom I think writes her own songs) all seem to churn out the same stuff.

then Alanis, Sheryl, PJ Harvey, Liz Phair, Bonnie Raitt, k.d. lang, etc. Basia--beautiful pipes but can do the overboard a la Celine though.
