At first my husband and I were going do go as Georgie and Dickie in jail costumes, handcuffed together. Then I said I had this sick idea and made the mistake of telling him about it... he is totally gung ho and I am a bit nervous about it...

A certain Abu Gharib female soldier wearing a shirt that says "Democracy is on the march", flashing a thumbs up, carrying a leash with a certain prisoner attached...

My roomate had a similar idea...it doesn't work on two levels:

1. It's in amazingly bad taste.

2. It's an invitation for somebody to cut off your head.

I did sound for a big rock Holloween party in Modesto, CA. There were several bands including the 'Spinal Tap'-like satirical heavy metal band 'Danger Kitty.'

About a thousand costumed youth getting down to loudness shortly after 9/11.

The winner of the costume contest was in a hyper-militant GI Joe costume with a cardboard cruise missile on his back which had its tip up the butt of an Osama bin Laden effigy.

Yes, this costume won the contest and the place went wild as 'Danger Kitty' went into their cover of 'We're Not Gonna Take It.' The festivity of this aggression grossed me out.

I think your costume idea is GREAT because it brings the bizarre theater of real life in the US military to home. Go for it.

be prepared for some angry reactions. It might cut down on your fun factor a bit. Your original idea seems a bit more safe, and it still makes the point.
