Former worker sues over phony robbery
snip

The convenience store apologized. The city promised not to do it again.

Now a former Gas 'N Shop manager wants both to pay for setting up a training drill in which she and others were ordered to the floor by two Schuyler, Neb., police officers posing as robbers.

...

About 11 Gas 'N Shop managers were meeting in the sunroom of the store. Some knew the bogus bandits were coming.

Two men entered the store, brandishing firearms. They ordered the employees to the floor and made them turn over their wallets and purses.

The phony robbers were in the store for about 30 seconds. After they left, another Schuyler police officer arrived and took witness accounts.

The two bandits then returned, displayed their badges and told everyone it was a hoax.

WTF? Sounds like a CRIME to me, even though the police did it. And what if one of the unsuspecting mangers had a personal firearm and decided to shoot the "intruders"?

2. There is so much wrong with this, it's simply amazing!
I hear you on the manager with a firearm, quite a few convience store managers have one handy, and aren't afraid to use it. Then what about some poor schmuck with a bad heart, fake robbers come in, and the guy keels over from fright and stress. Or better yet, it was real crooks, and the cops let them get away because they thought they were the fake ones? The list of ways this scenario could get fucked up is a long one, and I hope that this police dept. rethinks these in the future.
