I was also concerned about not having seen her around, so I sent her an email through the email link (not the PM) in case she doesn't check here, and she just sent me a reply.

From her:

"I'm alive. Just can't hang with the ultra-mega-super hateful ugly partisanship from either side right now. I'm barely hanging on at work, where I am on the same floor as several ultra-super-mega GOP lawyers (including, as all of DU famously knows, Ben Ginsberg). You may wish to report that their smirks are shrinking and I haven't heard any of them laugh -- have barely seen them crack a smile -- in days."

are so ramped up and one of the horrible side effects is the anger that flows from all sides. it can be devastating when those we think are the good guys (and that can be for those who trust their country or those who trust their party or their community etc), break basic faith by showing an uglier side as things start to turn fierce. this is a huge burden to carry for many, and can be overwhelming for some.

prayers for bertha and everyone who is struggling and feeling pummelled by the world we are in.
thanks for reaching out to her and letting her know we care and are thinking of her. this is very important and i appreciate your incredible thoughtfulness.

She almost didn't open my email that ended up in her spam folder because my first name is the same as an old ex of hers that was a bit psycho. She was glad she took the chance and opened it and she thanks everyone for caring about her. I sent her everyone's regards.
