2. Beating the Yankees.

Not just beating them. Eviscerating them. This was a sacking, a total pillage, an unprecedented routing.

3. Other: I believe that one must go with the other

In order to exorcise the World Series demon, we also had to exorcise the Yankees demon. I don't think this could happen any other way.

It was important to beat the Yankees because of the curse and because, well, they're the Yankees. :) But it's also important to win the Series to FINALLY put the curse rumors to rest and make all those people who said it would never happen eat crow!!
