2. $50/barrel oil = $3/gallon |

Hate to burst your bubble, but current oil prices equal $3 per gallon in Southern California. The higher oil prices just haven't worked their way through the system. They will if oil does not come down much. I don't expect it to. People have to get used to it, and $4 and $5 per gallon are only a few years off.
The end of cheap energy is almost over.

6. no bubble here.. The only part that sucks is that here in CA |
|
we are ALL long-distance commuters..
The tire companies/concrete companies/auto makers in the 50's made sure that whatever mass transit that WAS in place, was dismantled..Of course cheap gas, cheap cars and good highway set the stage for suburbia..which fueled a "need" for more cars etc..
Rightwingers love to use European gas prices as a "talking point", but what they always forget, is that most Europeans can get just about anywhere they need to go...via mass transit..Most people west of Phily cannot..
and so it goes..

I hope we do something about this problem, and drilling in ANWR is not the solution.

I'm seeing lots of big gas guzzlers sitting with for sale signs on them. Heh, heh, heh. I can handle $3/gal if it blasts the Hummers off the road.

Muffy and I will let the staff sleep on the lawn but charge them rent. It wouldn't be prudent not to.
