Warner Bothers is set to tap a relatively unknown actor to be the next Superman. Word is that the role is going to hunky Brandon Routh.

Not exactly a household name Routh starred in MTV's soap Undressed, appeared in an episode of Will & Grace last January, did a small piece on the Gilmore Girls three years ago, and in 2001was on ABC soap One Life to Live.

Warners will neither confirm not deny that the Superman part is Routh's but LatinoReview.com says he's the man. Er, the Superman.

The fan site Superman-V.com also says that Routh screen-tested for the part before director McG backed out and that he retested for new director Bryan Singer.

Warners is said to be holding on the official announcement out of respect for Christopher Reeves who died last week.
