3. Actually... I have seen a couple of people 'round these parts recently

who seem to take the 'bigger is better' approach to coiffure...not sure what's up with that!
I have long, really thick hair that tends toward wildness (it's pretty corkscrewy-curly as well as being thick) but I usually keep it corralled in some kind of braid/pony/whatever just to avoid looking like an 80s mall-maven.

She wraps it up in toilet paper at night... and she's plucked her real eyebrows so much that she has NONE left. So she draws them on using a plastic STENCIL!! A cutout stencil for the eyebrow shape!

They are very high and arched... I think she wants to be Joan Crawford.

there's the hostess-lady at the seafood restaurant. And so many more in this neck o' the woods. I don't really know them, but I see them from time to time and they at least pretend to recognize me.

And, of course, there's the lady who works at the Nellie Deli, over in the French Quarter in New Orleans. But it's a long time since I stopped in for a po'boy, so I don't know if she's there anymore. And yes, the "nellie" does indicate what you thought it might indicate.

Those women are wearing wigs, and I've never known anyone with real hair like that. But I have known women with real hair like Divine's in "Hairspray."



When I worked in factories I knew a lot of women with this hairdo, and they all hailed from the South.
