I get to meet John Edwards tomorrow (West Palm Beach)
I'm working the advance preparation for his visit to West Palm Beach tomorrow. They were really hard up for volunteers. The guy told me if I came in and volunteered that I could meet Edwards. I would have helped anyway, but it's great that I can meet Edwards.

1. I got a call about helping in Orlando on Saturday,
but I can't do it. I wish I could.

2. Man, I'll fly down there to meet him.
Hard to believe they are hard up for volunteers, I know people in Florida who have never volunteered for anything who are killing themselves.

3. Damn, why is everyone here so much luckier than me
when it comes to meeting politicians I admire? First Clark and now Edwards!

Lucky you, I' m jealous. Have fun!

4. I met him a couple of months ago.
And got a bear hug in the bargain. He's wonderful. Enjoy!

5. I worked at one of his rallies two weeks ago
in Greensboro. Was helping two young women get up to the barricade to shake hands. When I turned around face forward, there he was -- right in front of me -- hands outstretched. I grasped his hands and told him how proud we were of him and Kerry for giving us HOPE. He winked and smiled, pulling me up close and said, "we're doing it all for you."

The man has the common touch. It seems that when he goes down the line he picks out every 8th or 10th person to speak to directly for a few seconds. It was a great moment, totally unexpected.

6. Good on you.
And tell him his wife is a real mensch. And so, I think, is he.
