6. Be happy--CARDS WIN!!! |

I idolized Bob Gibson when I was in elementary school; same with Lou Brock.
Well, the nation will be majority-blue on Nov. 2, but the Series is all red (uniforms, that is!).
Even without the Astros--and Houston, thank goodness--it WILL be a good series; I've got this feeling!:D

Been a Cardinal fan all my life...even remember going to the old Sportsman Park on Grand Ave. when I was a kid (pre Busch Stadium). Makes my ol' Irish eyes smile... a tad more.

8. I was born on Palm street just a few blocks from there... |
|
My dad caught a Willie Mays homer in the bleachers there.
Funny story 40 years later -
Old Sportsman's Park had a covered pavilion in right field that at one time was the only place black fans were allowed to sit. Even in the 60's when I was a kid most blacks sat there, most whites wouldn't think of it. Now my Dad was a pretty progressive thinker but the mindset of this city was soooo entrenched that we always sat in the bleachers. I asked my Dad once why we couldn't sit in the pavilion just once, especially since it was a day game and it was HOT. Well, like I said, it was hard to change anyone's thinking, so we sat in the sun while the black fans had to suffer in the shade.
