I got two votes for Kerry today
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 11:59 PM by JohnKleeb
through the strangest methods which is why I place this here in the good ole lounge. I ain't 18 which sucks since I would so vote for Kerry, well happens there's a couple guys in my government class that are eighteen and we talked some today, and these guys want pot legalized as do I, I was like you know when Kerry was a DA in Middlesex County, Massachuetts, he actually decriminalized small amounts of it, I said I don't know what he would do nationally but you got a better chance with Kerry than Bush. Then I mentioned wars and stuff, and they said all right I will vote for Kerry, and one even said this vote is for you. God how I love being the government class nerd yet respected and liked. Plus another guy told me he did work for the guy running for congress here and I believe saw Wes Clark too at a function. Plus my Students Rights Party which was a project in which we had to make up our own third party was well received.

3. Congrats! I cannot believe you are so young

I never would have guessed, from your posts you seem much older.

When Kerry gets elected he will be the first president in the oval office that has admitted to smoking pot.

Kerry may not go as far to decriminalize it but I cannot imagine him fighting medical marijuana, he seems smart enough to realize that it actually helps people.

Wow, I am still shocked that you aren't 18 yet, bravo, you seem very sophisticated for your age and from what I can tell you have a great sense of humor, to boot.

6. Really by knowing everything that I knew I think impresses people
Ohter day I corrected the teacher, his powerpoint notes said that because of the divide in the GOP in 1912 with Taft and Roosevelt up against Wilson that Taft won as a result, I was like no you mean Wilson won, he's like lemme check that and was kind of upset that I corrected him sorta lol, and he's like well he's exactly 100% right, and people were like wow, I was like oh that was too easy.

8. I am gonna be doing some research here and online over the weekend
to rebuke him.
He wants three pieces of legislation supported by the Clinton adminstration that passed that had a significant impact, I plan to give him 5 with detailed explanations of why.

9. sweet
for good measure you should give him 5 pieces of legislation supported by the bush administration that had significant impact, but in a very bad way. Shouldn't be too hard!

10. hahah yeah that would be great
Its not even homework but he spouted it out in class today, I was like well I am gonna prove you wrong, he picks on me for being so left wing though, we had a third party project today and I advocated in it repealing our state standarlized tests, free college and pre-school, etc, and he's like how am I gonna pay for that, me and the other presenters were like we would have to pay higher taxes but it would be worth it, I told him scanadavians have high taxes but great services and freedoms, and he's like well how many people do they have, I was like oh god give me a break. Shame.

11. don't know if there's a word for that
ignorance? arrogance?

People don't seem to understand that there some really good benefits from taxes like I don't know, maybe schools, hospitals, DEFENSE, highways...... Most people are of the NIMBY group.

I'm lucky here at college, most professors I've had are all liberal, so we get along quite well. So well that we've had many a conversation outside of class about politics and stuff.

16. well at least it seems like he tries to hide it then??
my professors are usually very good at hiding their bias, but i can usually catch it, or they'll actually come up to me and talk to me about dems stuff 'cause i'm well known as being a part of our college dems organization.
